How to Keep a Blackberry Curve Password Protected

Postby tina » Thu Oct 29, 2009 1:38 am

Just like your eyes are the windows to your soul, your Blackberry is the window into your life. If you lose your Blackberry, you give someone the keys to your life. They have your schedule, contacts, emails, account numbers and financial information. You do not want to give this information away to a stranger. Password protecting your Blackberry is a must in a society where stealing personal information is as easy as ordering a cheeseburger at a fast food restaurant.

Instructions

Step 1

Turn on your Blackberry device. It should take a few minutes to turn on. Click the "Menu" button. It is the button to the left of the trackball.

Step 2

Scroll the trackball to the "Options" icon. The icon is a wrench. Press the trackball and scroll to "Security Options."

Step 3

Press the trackball and scroll to "General Settings."

Step 4

Press the trackball and change the "Password" to "Enabled." The default is "Disabled." Press the "Menu" button; it is located to the left of the trackball. Click "Save."

Step 5

Enter a password on the Blackberry keyboard and press the trackball. Verify the password by retyping again and pressing the trackball. The password is now saved.

Step 6

Turn your Blackberry off and on and you will be prompted to enter your newly created password. If you lock your Blackberry by scrolling to the "Lock" icon, you will be prompted to enter your password when you unlock the Blackberry. Your Blackberry will also time out after inactivity and require a password.
